How to place advertisements on your site

Many of our theme demos display an "advertisers", "sponsors", or "partners" section in the sidebar. This is displayed for demo purposes only. It's not a particular plugin or ad network – it's simply something that says "hey, this might be a good place to put ads in this theme if you'd like to."

There are LOTS of ways that you can add advertisements to your 17th Avenue theme! Ads can be placed in virtually any widget area in your theme. For our premium themes, this means you have 15+ widget areas that you could potentially place ads in, giving you lots of control and flexibility over your ad placement.

Below we'll go over some common methods that website owners use to display ads in WordPress.

Google Adsense

Google AdSense is an advertising network run by Google that allows bloggers and website owners to earn money by displaying text, image, or video advertisements on their sites. Google AdSense is an easy way to manage ads because you don’t have to communicate with advertisers or manually collect payments.

Here is a great article on how to set up Google AdSense on your WordPress site. Please note that you should use a Custom HTML widget and NOT a text widget when adding your AdSense code.

There are several great WordPress plugins that handle advertisements. Here are a couple options:

Manual Ads

Want to sell your own ads directly to advertisers and display them on your site? Once your advertiser has sent you their ad image and link, paste this code snippet in a Custom HTML widget to place their advertisement in any widget area on your site (sidebar, footer, etc):
