Clover - Theme Settings

Clover is our first theme to offer a built-in theme settings panel, which allows you to easily modify several aspects in your theme. We'll go over all of the available settings below! To access the settings panel, go to Appearance > Customize > Clover Theme Settings. You'll find 5 sections:

Global

Enable sticky header? — Toggle the sticky header on/off (desktop). Default is checked.

Enable sticky header on mobile? — Toggle the sticky header on/off (mobile). Default is checked.

Enable search icon in top navigation? — Toggle the search icon on/off. Default is checked.

Search placeholder text — Change the text that appears inside the search bar ("looking for something?" in the demo).

Read More button text — Change the text for the "Read More" buttons throughout your site.

Front Page

Set Front Page 1 to full width? — Toggle the width of the first section on the front page. Default is checked and in most cases it should be left checked. When unchecked, the Front Page 1 max width will become 1340px. This is useful for some of the Front Page 1 Options in Clover.

Front Page 1 Intro Text Font Size — Control the font size for the intro text in the CTA widget in Front Page 1. Supports any numerical pixel value. Default is 46.

Front Page 1 Main Heading Font Size — Control the font size for the main heading in the CTA widget in Front Page 1. Supports any numerical pixel value. Default is 56.

Front Page 1 Sub Heading Font Size — Control the font size for the sub heading in the CTA widget in Front Page 1. Supports any numerical pixel value. Default is 20.

Front Page 1 Background Image - Desktop — Upload a background image for the first section on the front page (desktop).

Front Page 1 Background Image - Mobile — Upload a background image for the first section on the front page (mobile).

Featured Page widget style — Modify the appearance of the Featured Page widgets on the front page of your theme. There are 4 display options.

Blog Layouts

Blog Page Layout — Change the layout of the blog posts when a static page is displayed on the homepage (Settings > Reading). There are 3 layout options: Full, List, and Grid.

Single Posts

Read More button text — Change the text for the Read More button. Applies site-wide.

Show related posts on single posts? — Toggle the related posts on/off. Default is checked.

Related posts title — Change the title that appears above the related posts ("you'll also love" in the demo).

Show pop-up post navigation on single posts? — Toggle the pop-up post navigation on/off. Default is checked.

Category Archives

Click here for instructions on setting up category archive pages.

Category Archive Layout — Change the layout of the posts on the category archive pages. There are 3 layout options: Full, List, 2-Column Grid (with sidebar), and 3-Column Grid.

Number of posts on archive pages — Change the number of posts that appear on the category archive pages and WooCommerce product archive pages.

Show entry meta on category archive pages? — Toggle the entry meta (typically date, category, etc) on/off. Default is unchecked.

Show subcategory sort menu on category archive pages? — Toggle the subcategory sort menu that displays on full-width archive pages by default. Default is checked.

Subcategory sort menu text — Change the text that displays in front of the subcategory sort menu ("sort by:" in the demo).


Genesis Theme Settings

There are also numerous Genesis Theme Settings to allow you to further fine-tune your theme. We'll go over these below. To access the Genesis settings panel, go to Genesis > Theme Settings.

Updates

Allow Genesis to check for updates, and optionally receive update notifications via email.

Site Layout

Change the default site layout:

  • Full Width
  • Content, Sidebar (Right Aligned Sidebar)
  • Sidebar, Content (Left Aligned Sidebar)

It's also possible to change the layout for individual pages, but that setting is located elsewhere. Click here.

Breadcrumbs

Toggle breadcrumbs on/off. Click here for additional information about breadcrumbs.

Comments and Trackbacks

Toggle post comments and trackbacks on/off.

Singular Content

Show Featured Image on Posts — Toggle on/off to automatically display the featured image at the top of each blog post.

Show Featured Image on Pages — Toggle on/off to automatically display the featured image at the top of each page.

Show Featured Image on Portfolio — Toggle on/off to automatically display the featured image at the top of each portfolio entry.

Entry Meta - Above Content — Change the information (date, category, etc) that displays at the top of each blog post. Supports Genesis post shortcodes.

In the demo, the Entry Meta - Above Content box contains:

Entry Meta - Below Content — Change the information (author, tags, etc) that displays at the bottom of each blog post. Supports Genesis post shortcodes.

In the demo, the Entry Meta - Below Content box contains:
[post_author_posts_link before="By: " ] · [post_categories before=" In: "] · [post_tags before=" Tagged: "]

Content Archives

Changes made in this section will affect any pages that display blog posts, i.e. the blog page or category archive pages.

Entry Content or Entry Excerpts — Select what type of content you would like to display. Default: Entry Excerpts.

Limit content to how many characters? — If you select Entry Content above, you can set a maximum number of characters that will display before the Read More button. If you put 0 in this field, the full post content will display (no Read More button).

Display the featured image? — This should always remain checked. This will ensure images appear on your blog page, category pages, etc.

Featured Image Size — You can change the shape of your image here. For best results, choose one of the following image sizes:

  • featured-wide (for horizontal/landscape shaped images)
  • featured-long (for vertical/portrait shaped images)
  • featured-square (for square shaped images)

Featured Image Alignment — Recommend leaving this set to the default, which is Left.

Entry Pagination Type (Numeric or Previous/Next) — Entry pagination is the page navigation that you'll find at the bottom of each blog page (example). You can choose to display pages numerically, as shown in the demo, or you can use simple previous/next buttons. Default: Numeric.

Next and Previous Pagination Text — Change the text for the next and previous buttons.

Footer

Change the text that appears in the footer of your site. You can remove the 17th Avenue footer credit if desired, however please note that removing the credit will void your access to theme support.

Header/Footer Scripts

Useful for placing custom scripts on your site, for example from Pinterest, Google Analytics, Google AdSense, etc. This section replaces the need for the "Insert Headers and Footers" plugin. See here for further details.
