Clover - Portfolio

A portfolio page will automatically be set up when you install your theme. You'll see a new "Portfolio" tab in the left column of your WordPress dashboard. You can access your Portfolio page on your site at http://yourwebsite.com/portfolio

How the Portfolio Works

Click here to view the portfolio.

  • The portfolio is comprised of several "portfolio entries." Each entry has a featured image that displays on the main portfolio page (the square images you see). The main portfolio page will display your portfolio entries in three columns.
  • When you click on one of the images on the portfolio page, you are taken to a page where more images/content/etc can be displayed. This page is the portfolio entry.
  • You can categorize your portfolio entries into "types." Think of types like categories for the portfolio. Each type has its own portfolio page, so you could potentially create an unlimited number of portfolio pages.

Portfolio Initial Setup

  1. For the portfolio to work correctly, you’ll need to first reset your Permalinks.
  2. Go to your WordPress dashboard > Settings > Permalinks.
  3. Do not change your Permalink structure – just simply click the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the page. That will reset your Permalinks.

Creating Portfolio Entries

  1. To add a new Portfolio entry, go to Portfolio > Add New.
  2. In the right sidebar, find the Featured Image section and select a featured image. This is the image that will display on your main Portfolio page for this Portfolio entry.
  3. In the large content area, you can add images, text, an image gallery – whatever you’d like. This is what will display after the portfolio entry's featured image is clicked on.

Portfolio Types

Think of Portfolio Types as Categories for the Portfolio. In some cases you may want to sort your Portfolio entries into multiple pages instead of having everything on just one page.

For example, if you’re a photographer, you may want to have four separate portfolio pages: families, portraits, newborns, and weddings. To achieve this, you can use a built-in feature called Portfolio Types. In this case, a "type" simply means a category or an album.

To add a new Portfolio Type, go to Portfolio > Types and create a new type. A list of all of your active types is on the right. Once you’ve added all the types you want, you can categorize your portfolio entries under the different types you set up.

Add Title & Intro Text to Portfolio

If you'd like to add a page title and description to the main portfolio page, go to Portfolio > Archive Settings. Add your page title in the "Archive Headline" box. Add your intro text in the "Archive Intro Text" box.
