Ivy - Custom Portfolio
A Portfolio page will automatically be set up when you install your theme. You should see a new Portfolio tab in your WordPress dashboard. You can access your Portfolio page on your site at http://yourwebsite.com/portfolio
Here’s how the Portfolio works:
- The portfolio is comprised of several "portfolio entries." Each entry has a featured image that displays on the main portfolio page (the square images you see). The main portfolio page will display your portfolio entries in three columns.
- When you click on one of the images on the portfolio page, you are taken to a page where more images/content/etc can be displayed. This page is the portfolio entry.
- You can categorize your portfolio entries into "types." Think of types like categories for the portfolio. Each type has its own portfolio page, so you could potentially create an unlimited number of portfolio pages.
PORTFOLIO INITIAL SETUP
- For the portfolio to work correctly, you’ll need to first reset your Permalinks.
- Go to your WordPress dashboard > Settings > Permalinks.
- Do not change your Permalink structure – just simply click the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the page. That will reset your Permalinks.
CREATING PORTFOLIO ENTRIES

- To add a new Portfolio entry, go to Portfolio > Add New.
- In the right sidebar, find the Featured Image section and select a featured image. This is the image that will display on your main Portfolio page for this Portfolio entry.
- In the large content area, you can add images, text, an image gallery – whatever you’d like. This is what will display after the portfolio entry's featured image is clicked on.
Portfolio Types

Think of Portfolio Types as categories for your Portfolio. Portfolio Types work very similarly to categories on your blog. Just like blog categories, each Portfolio Type (category) will have its own separate page on your site. Just like blog categories, you can categorize your Portfolio Entries into the different Portfolio Types and they'll show up on that page for that Type.
Portfolio Types are great for photographers who may want to showcase different kinds of photography they offer (i.e. Weddings, Engagements, and Portraits).
To add a new Portfolio Type, go to Portfolio > Types and create a new type. A list of all of your active types is on the right. Once you’ve added all the types you want, you can categorize your portfolio entries under the different types you set up.
