Genesis - How to remove demo content after installation

If you installed the theme demo content on your site, it'll need to be removed manually. Not to worry – it's easy! Below we'll go over how to remove all the demo content once you are ready to use your own content. You do not have to remove everything, but we recommend removing at least the demo blog posts.

Blog Posts

Note: Demo blog posts should always be deleted. Please create your own posts rather than editing the demo posts with your own content. Creating your own posts will ensure the permalink, publish date, SEO data, and other post data is correct for each post and does not contain any leftover demo information.
  1. Go to WordPress > Posts > All Posts.
  2. Place a checkmark by the posts you want to delete. Or, you can click the topmost checkbox to bulk select them all.
  3. At the top, go to Bulk Actions > Move to Trash.

Images/Media

  1. Go to WordPress > Media > Library.
  2. Click "Bulk Select" at the top.
  3. Select the images you want to delete.
  4. Click "Delete Selected."

Pages

Note: In most cases, you don't need to delete all of the demo pages. Some of the demo pages, such as the About page or Services page, can be edited with your own content! That way you don't have to start these pages from scratch. However, you will want to delete any pages that are specifically for the demo (e.g. the "Theme Customizer" page, where the Theme Customizer is demonstrated).
  1. Go to WordPress > Pages > All Pages.
  2. Place a checkmark by the pages you want to delete. Or, you can click the topmost checkbox to bulk select them all.
  3. At the top, go to Bulk Actions > Move to Trash.

Navigation Menus

  1. Go to Appearance > Menus.
  2. Select any menu that you would like to delete and/or are not using on your website.
  3. Click "Delete Menu" at the bottom of the menu.

Portfolio

  1. Go to WordPress > Portfolio > Portfolio.
  2. Place a checkmark by the entries you want to delete. Or, you can click the topmost checkbox to bulk select them all.
  3. At the top, go to Bulk Actions > Move to Trash.

Comments

  1. Go to WordPress > Comments.
  2. Place a checkmark by the comments you want to delete. Or, you can click the topmost checkbox to bulk select.
  3. At the top, go to Bulk Actions > Move to Trash.
  4. If you have lots of spam comments, use this plugin to easily remove all of them at once.

Products (if using WooCommerce)

  1. Go to WordPress > Products > All Products.
  2. Place a checkmark by the products you want to delete. Or, you can click the topmost checkbox to bulk select them all.
  3. At the top, go to Bulk Actions > Move to Trash.
