Genesis - How to add blog posts to the homepage

If you would like to display your blog post feed (with or without a sidebar) on the homepage of a Premium WordPress Theme, this tutorial will show you how.

Add blog posts to the homepage (below existing widgets)

  1. Go to Settings > Reading. Under Homepage Displays, select "Your Latest Posts." Save changes.
  2. To add or remove a sidebar, go to Genesis > Theme Settings > Site Layout and select your desired layout (Left Sidebar, Right Sidebar, or Full-Width/No Sidebar).
  3. From here, you can either choose to display full blog posts, or excerpt posts with a read more button (see Display Options below).
Please note: It is not possible to add a sidebar next to the homepage widgets; a sidebar can only be added below the widgets, next to the blog section.

Add blog to the homepage (with NO widgets)

  1. Go to Appearance > Widgets.
  2. Open all widgets that say "Front Page" or "Home" and remove ALL widgets from those areas. Depending on which theme you have, there could be up to 10 Front Page or Home widget areas.
  3. Go to Settings > Reading. Under Homepage Displays, select "Your Latest Posts." Save changes. Your homepage should now be displaying only blog posts.
  4. To add or remove a sidebar, go to Genesis > Theme Settings > Site Layout and select your desired layout.
  5. From here, you can either choose to display full blog posts, or excerpt posts with a read more button (see Display Options below).
