3-Column Footer

Go to WordPress > Appearance > Widgets. The 3-column footer in your theme utilizes the following widget areas:

  • Footer 2: Navigation menu widget
  • Footer 3: Newsletter signup widget
  • Footer 4: Navigation menu widget

You're more than welcome to customize the footer, add/remove widgets, etc. Below we'll go over how the widgets are set up in the demo, but you can add just about anything you want! Other ideas could be a disclaimer, categories widget, archives widget, search widget, and more! You can also fully customize the layout of the footer using the Kadence Footer Builder.

Footer 2 & 4

Footer 2 and 4 display each display a Navigation Menu widget.

  1. Go to Appearance > Menus and create 2 separate menus to use in your footer. A uniform number of links is strongly encouraged for correct alignment of the footer menus, e.g. 4 or 5 links in each menu.
  2. Go to Appearance > Widgets > Footer 2. Click on the Navigation Menu widget, then select the new menu you created.
  3. Repeat for the other menu in Footer 4.

Footer 3

Footer 3 displays a Genesis eNews Extended widget (newsletter signup form). Click here for setup instructions.

Trending Now Footer widget area

The Trending Now area is located at Appearance > Widget > Trending Now Footer. This widget area is coded to display at the bottom of every page, excluding WooCommerce shop pages.

If you'd like to choose which specific posts display in the Trending Now area, click here for instructions.

Disable the Trending Now widget area

If you'd like to remove it entirely, simply delete everything from the Trending Now Footer widget area.

If you'd like to disable the Trending Now area on an individual page (useful for landing pages where you may not want footer elements), here's how:

  1. Open a page in the editor where you'd like to disable the Trending Now widget area.
  2. Click on the 3 dots at the top right corner of the editor, then select Preferences at the bottom.
  3. A window will appear. Scroll down and check the "Custom Fields" box. A new Custom Fields module will appear at the bottom of your editor screen.
  4. In the Name field, enter hide_before_footer_widget
  5. In the Value field, enter true
  6. Click Add Custom Field.

This will disable the Trending Now widget area on the specific page where you added the custom field.
