Florence - Transparent header

The Florence Theme features a transparent header on all main pages. This means your site's header — including your logo and navigation — sits over the top of your page's hero background image, rather than on a solid background color. Here's what it looks like:

Customize the Transparent Header

You can customize your transparent header’s settings (including logo color, menu link color, and so on) to ensure it looks beautiful and legible against your chosen imagery. To customize the transparent header, go to Appearance > Customize > Header > Transparent Header > Design.

💡 Design Tip

On pages that use a transparent header, it's best to disable the page title. Your page titles should instead come from a hero background block (e.g. as shown here). There are many different hero variations included in the Florence Block Collection!

Disable the Transparent Header Site-Wide

Prefer a more traditional layout? You can disable the transparent header across your entire site with a single setting:

Go to Appearance > Customize > Header > Transparent Header and uncheck " Enable Transparent Header?"

This will apply a standard, solid background behind your header on all pages. Click here for more information on modifying the layout and appearance of page titles.

Disable the Transparent Header on a Specific Page

Some minor pages — like Privacy Policy — use a solid header for readability and simplicity. Home Option 2 and Home Option 3 also use a solid header!

If you’d like to disable the transparent header on individual pages like this, you can easily do so in the Page Settings panel while editing any page:

💡 Readability Tip

If your background images feel too light and your header text isn't standing out as much as you'd like, try using the Transparent Header Background option to add a subtle, semi-transparent dark overlay behind the header.

You can also change your logo and link colors to darker colors for improved contrast. Totally up to you!
