Uptown - Homepage Setup

Before You Begin

You'll need to configure your Reading settings before you start setting up your homepage.

Go to Wordpress > Settings > Reading. Under Front Page Displays, select "Your Latest Posts."

If you imported the demo widgets, the widget areas below are already set up for you.

1. Featured Posts

The Uptown theme demo displays three featured posts underneath the header/navigation area. The images shown are the featured images from your three most recent posts, so you'll need to be sure you have a  featured image set for each post. Each time you publish a post, the images will change.

  1. Go to Appearance > Widgets.
  2. Drag the Genesis Featured Posts widget into the Front Page 1 widget area.
  3. Configure the widget as shown below.

Tip: if you want to individually choose which three posts display in this widget, here's how.
Another tip: if you'd like to use a post slider in place of (or in addition to!) the featured posts, click here.

2. Newsletter Signup Widget

The "Get the Latest" subscription widget in the Uptown theme uses Genesis eNews Extended. To learn how to configure this plugin, click here.

Go to Appearance > Widgets. Drag the Genesis eNews Extended widget into the  Front Page 2 widget area. The widget title used in the demo is “Get the Latest.” Configure the widget how you would like, and then save.
