Starter Theme - Customizing Your Homepage
Your Starter Theme homepage is ready to go as soon as you import it. From here, you can keep the demo layout as-is or customize it by choosing different homepage blocks, updating the content, and selecting which posts appear throughout the page.
Homepage Block Options
Your theme comes pre-loaded with the following block options:
- Post Slider
- 3-Column Post Carousel
- 4-Column Post Carousel
- Newsletter Signup Box with Image Background
- Newsletter Signup Box with Solid Background
- 3 Featured Categories
- 4 Featured Categories
You can view live, interactive examples of each block by navigating to the demo site for your theme. In the navigation menu, go to Features > Homepage Options.
Inserting a block
The blocks for your theme are located inside a central Design Library that you can access from right inside your WordPress Block Editor. Here's how!
- To insert a new block on your homepage, go to Pages > Home and click Edit.
- Click on the Design Library button at the top of the Block Editor.
- Click on Starter Blocks.
- Blocks are categorized by type. Choose the Homepage Options and click on the block you'd like to insert.

Tips:
- Is a block not in the right spot? You can easily move it around using block controls. Click here for a quick video.
- If you'd like, you can delete the existing homepage block(s). For example, if your theme comes with a 3-Column Post Carousel on the homepage, you could delete the Post Carousel and add a Post Slider instead!
Choosing Posts to Display on the Homepage
Your homepage contains both a homepage block (such as a Post Carousel) and a blog feed with a sidebar. These both use the same type of block: the Kadence Posts Block. Below are some helpful articles that go over how to use Posts blocks. Posts can be displayed in chronological order, by category, specific posts, etc.

Featured Categories
If you're using one of the Featured Categories blocks — either 3 Featured Categories or 4 Featured Categories — follow this guide on how to link each section and change the images.
Sidebar
You may notice that your sidebar displays as a shortcode inside the Block Editor. This is normal! To edit your sidebar widgets, go to Appearance > Widgets > Sidebar 1.
